Commission Calculator: Flat Rate and Gross Pay

Estimate a flat-rate sales commission and add optional base pay for the same period. Use one currency for all monetary inputs.

Formula: Commission = sales × rate (%) ÷ 100. Gross total = commission + base pay.

Worked example: Sales of 10,000 at 7.5% produce 750 commission. Adding 1,200 base pay gives a gross estimate of 1,950.

Sales and rate are required. Blank base pay means zero. Use non-negative values; monetary inputs and gross total must not exceed 1,000,000,000,000.

Choose the correct sales basis

Enter the amount on which the stated rate applies. A plan may refer to sales revenue, collected revenue or another agreed basis. This tool does not determine that basis. For example, applying 7.5% to 10,000 differs from applying it to 8,000 after an adjustment.

Match base pay to the same period

If sales represent one month, enter the base pay for that month, not an annual salary. Base pay is added once and is not multiplied by the commission rate. Leaving it blank calculates commission-only earnings. A zero rate produces zero commission while retaining any entered base pay.

A flat rate is not a tiered plan

At 5% on the first 10,000 and 8% on the next 5,000, commissions are 500 + 400 = 900. Applying 8% to all 15,000 gives 1,200, a different arrangement. This tool applies a single rate to the entire entered amount; calculate separate tiers separately and combine them only as the actual plan requires.

Read this as a gross estimate

The result does not calculate taxes, deductions, refunds, caps, thresholds or entitlement under a contract. It does not convert currencies. Calculations use unrounded values; displayed amounts round to two decimals, so tiny positive amounts may display as 0.00. Use a payroll or accounting process for an actual payment determination.
